Saab Auto Components Innovation & Design
Renowned for unique innovation, Saab has continuously spearheaded advancements. Saab advancements include their excellent auto parts, ergonomics, green technology, safety and performance. In fact, Saab takes pride in the knowledge that they do not merely make cars, they make history. Saab was founded in Trollhattan, Sweden in 1937. Saab was known for producing high-performance aircraft before World War II. This aviation experience and knowledge transferred to the unique engineering behind Saab auto parts, which began after the war in 1946. The Saab model 92001 was the company's first prototype. This new model debuted in 1947. The design was clearly inspired by the company's aviation roots. This exhibited an aerodynamic wing-shaped profile. Other unique Saab auto parts included a transverse two-stroke engine, front wheel drive, and a sturdy safety cage. In 1949 the Saab 92 was the first to go into production. The Saab 93 was introduced in 1955. Some new Saab auto parts included a three-cylinder engine, new transmission, and tubeless tires. The release of the Saab 96 was in 1960. This model highlighted increased trunk space, a larger trunk opening, and a larger rear window for better visibility. Equipped with a V4 engine, the Saab 96 was a big seller. This allowed an impressive twenty year run on the market. In 1964 newly designed Saab auto parts were introduced to all Saab models. These included a diagonally divided brake system with double brake circuits. Saab auto parts had exciting milestones over the next eight years. These milestones included the classic Saab wrap-around windscreen, headlamp cleaning, self-repairing bumpers, and side-impact door beams. All of these features made their debut in the Saab 99. Saab auto parts are always on the cutting-edge of unique design and features. Saab introduced the power of turbo technology with the 99 Turbo in 1976. A couple years later, Saab auto parts were the first to offer a cabin air filter in the Saab 900. Saab presented more firsts to world in the 1980s. This Saab 900 Turbo Sedan introduced more new Saab auto parts. These included the APC system. This adjusts the engine to run on varying fuel grades by raising or lowering turbo boost. The Saab 900 Turbo 16S was the world's first car with a 16-valve turbo engine. In the 1990s, innovative Saab auto parts focused on environment and safety. Saab became the first carmaker to present a Freon-free (CFC-free) air conditioning system. The new Saab 900 offered world-class safety features. This included a rear seat with a loaded-retention beam, three rear three-point seat belts, and rear side-impact protection. A few years later, the Saab 9-5, a premium four-door sedan, was the first car with Saab Active head Restraints (SAHR) and ventilated seats. Saab auto parts continued building on safety in the 21st century. Introducing the Saab 9-2X as the first Saab model to offer all-wheel drive. This allowed excellent handling in any weather condition.
